The Magical Eyes of Ideals and Gratefulness

(Photography courtesy of Emilie Anne Gates, @EmilieAnnePhotos © 2021)

I have a tendency to focus on what is Good that is missing from the Physical Present. It is like a magical Eye I have found to look through, which can envision vivid dreamscapes of the Undiscovered Ideal. Yet, I find I too often prefer to see with this Eye until I inevitably crash myself into the Present reality of existential disappointment and horror. Upon this collision into another inescapable reality, I open my earthly eyes, sentimentally pining after the fading vision of the Ideal, and doing little to nothing with my Body other than freeze with fear, shame, or sadness.

On the other hand, at the start of this journey, I was granted the Divine gift we all have access to, which is often called Gratefulness. This other power can help you light a path in even the darkest moments. This is a different magical Eye, with which I begin to see that many facets of the Ideal reality already exist here Now, and I see how to gently turn the levers and make the movements with my Body to reconcile the two. Though they may never be the same reality in this lifetime, I am grateful for the gift of Gratefulness.

I want to incorporate the meditation of thanks in the pursuit of my dreams. If I am grateful the entire time, then the Journey itself becomes as meaningful to me as the Destination I am working toward. I don't need to be paralyzed with disappointment that the ideal is unrealized, because gratefulness is the antidote as well as the ticket to get back on the train of motivation, a train which is ironically moving me toward an earthly-unachievable ideal.

Pivoting away from the general, my specific dream is to build a successful coffee business that blesses the people in its supply and production chain as well as the community it serves. If you want any coffee from me, send a message or check out the website. I would be grateful to procure and roast coffee to the best of my ability for you. You can't drink an ethereal Ideal, but you can drink Physically Present coffee we can be Grateful for, and that is perhaps just as Good.

Peace,

Adam
